What’s in my… daily backpack
What’s in my… daily backpack. This is my trusty everyday backpack from 5.11, the Rush24. This is the medium size from the Rush series with 37L and this backpack has been with me over the world. From more formal meetings up to the dunes in Mauritania.
Fortunately, nowadays it is well accepted to use military-looking equipment in ordinary situations. And to make it clear, I don’t use these items because they are tactical equipment, but because they fulfill my needs in terms of features. The color has been chosen because at first, I would use it for rally’s in Africa but after the first rally, I liked the pack so much that I kept using it for every other situation.
This backpack fits my 15″ Apple Macbook Pro (2017) with chargers, my Apple iPad Air 3 with Otterbox case and Apple Pencil, a Quechua bottle, some food and two different pouches like my essentials kit and the medkit. But during rally’s, there will also be some extra clothing, a Garmin GPSMAP 62 GPS for navigation on the tracks and extra accessories for my cameras.
Front pocket
In the front pocket, I keep some utilities for everyday use like some pencils to write something down, gaffer tape to fix or label something, an Xtorm power bank to charge my phone or laptop, JBL wireless speaker for some music, an Africa Eco Race buff to cover myself up, a Victorinox pocket knife, Mechanix gloves and with the current situation in the world also a pair of medical gloves to help in hygiene risky situations and 99,9% alcohol to clean.
Inside pockets
In the inside pockets, I keep mostly pouches. In the deepest pockets I keep my essentials kit with all kinds of electronics and my medical kit with basic boo-boo stuff and pain relief, and some items to clean.
In the mesh pockets, I keep an Osprey Ultralight packing cube and an Osprey Ultralight Drysack which I use in more of my bags for traveling. And some of my own Pridex Media patches.
